It's super light, ultra compact, higher quality than any competitor, and offers features and versatility beyond its price.

Sony's new HDV? Sure, just like the Miller SOLO 10.

A year after its launch, the SOLO DV tripod and Miller DS10 fluid head combo will again be called upon by video professionals to consummately support a breakthrough camcorder, with the February 2005 release of Sony's HDV-Z1 1080i camcorder.

As was the case with the very successful Panasonic DVX100 and Canon XL series MiniDV's, tripod support will again come to the fore in optimising the capabilities of these amazing camcorders.

Like professional lighting and audio setups, the smooth pan action you get from DS10's true fluid design, and the rock solid stability SOLO DV's carbon legs provide, the defining points between 'quality pickers' and 'blow-you-away' creative imagery.

So, how does SOLO do it?

By combining silky-smooth Miller fluid pan & tilt heads with an ultra light, rock solid spreaderless tripod. Add to that selectable counterbalance options, 75mm ball levelling and quick release camera plate and SOLO DV is unbeatable for one-man shooting.

Grant Clementson, Miller’s MD, explains, “The DV shooter’s demands of stability, pro features and light weight, compact carriage were not being met. Sure, you can get friction heads on cheap, unstable spreaderless tripods without ball levelling and heads without fluid technology or counterbalance or tripods that are too heavy or too large - you just couldn’t get the best of all worlds in one package – until SOLO!”

The spreaderless SOLO DV carbon fibre tripod is designed for single operator crews: they set up to 160cm in height in seconds and pack down to a compact 70cm for transport. Selectable leg angle locks ensure rapid stabilisation, while the 75mm diecast alloy bowl offers quick levelling, optimum torsional rigidity and long term durability.

The SOLO DV tripod will initially launch with three new alloy systems specifically targeting one-man DV shooters:

* SOLO 5 system: The SOLO 5 comprises Miller DS5 75mm fluid head handling 0-5lb (0-2.5kg) MiniDV palmcorders mounted on a new Alloy 2-Stage, 75mm SOLO DV2 spreaderless tripod. Quick Release plate, rugged carry case, adjustable pan handle, neoprene upper tube protection and 3-year warranty round out this amazing DV package.

* SOLO 10 system: The SOLO 10 boasts 5-10lb (2.5 - 5kg) payload capacity for both HDV, PD-170, DVX-100 and XL-2 DV camcorders, with a Miller DS10 75mm fluid head mounted on a carbon fibre 2-Stage, 75mm SOLO DV2 spreaderless tripod. Quick Release sliding plate, rugged carry case, adjustable pan handle, neoprene upper tube protection and 3-year warranty are standard SOLO 10 features.

* SOLO 20 system: The SOLO 20 employs the well-known Miller DS20 fluid head to handle 10-20lb (5-10kg) payloads up to the DSR300 DVCAM camcorders. SOLO 20 incorporates a carbon fibre 2-Stage, 75mm SOLO DV2 spreaderless tripod, Quick Release sliding plate, rugged carry case, adjustable pan handle, neoprene upper tube protection and 3-year warranty are standard features for SOLO 20.

SOLO 10 & 20 systems are also available in Carbon Fibre!!!
