The Daily Tripod – A Publishing Powerhouse!

21 September 2004

All eyes and minds were a-whizz with excitement in the IBC press room this year when Miller Camera Support launched their IBC press kit, The Daily Tripod.

With its great new look and surprising individuality, it was a massive hit with all the journalists attending the European broadcasting event of the year. The Daily Tripod gave readers a glimpse of the ‘then and now’ evolution of Miller support from wooden tripods and oil-filled viscosity fluid heads for portable film cameras, to the present day SOLO carbon fibre and Arrow 30 silicon fluid selectable ENG heads for digital production.

Daily Tripod 1954Our 1954 page comes alive with the brilliant archival images of John Leake (ACS), an award winning Australian cinematographer working closely with Miller on our history project. You’ll find the industry stories also faithfully reproduced from the era, right down to typos, sweeping generalisations and tragically flawed industry forecasts.

Daily Tripod 2004The full colour 2004 broadsheet features cinematographers and videographers Craig WatkinsGinny SteinRob Bygott and Paul Mullen in action with the current Miller line-up. Arrow 30, SOLO tripods and DS10’s excel in all kinds of field conditions.

If you happened to miss out on receiving your copy of The Daily Tripod, don’t fret! Download it in PDF format for your own viewing.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next edition – coming to an event near you soon...
