Tyge Landa born (Tyge Landa Richardson Plasto) Sydney, Australia and raised on the NSW South Coast.
At the age of 18 Tyge moved to Sydney and entered the world of Marketing and Advertising, after 5 years of city life he decided to make a sea change and started filmmaking 7 years ago, shortly after his award winning filmmaker father, Bob Plasto passed away.
Bob Plasto an internationally renowned film-maker, making more than 75 films in 35 years. His work included ‘A Town like Alice’ and ‘Journey into an American Spy Base’. It was his passing that lit a fire in Tyge to create motion picture imagery.
Working in the Surf Industry as a Marketing Manager he commended filming surfers and models, this quickly escalated into a full time career.
Tyge’s first surf movie was titled Beneath, a 30 minute psychedelic surf escapade with a rebellious edge to modern society, that gained worldwide attention.
He was then quickly hired on long-term contracts with big name surf brands to create their web and social based media requirements.
Most Recently Tyge created a 30-minute documentary for the world’s biggest action sports content creators, Red Bull Media House. The piece titled ‘Chasing the Shot’ and is set for release early 2018.
Tyge often travels to surf destination such as Hawaii, Fiji, Indonesia, Tahiti and Australia wide. Tahiti would rank as Tyge’s favourite destination, for shooting with its incredible, and dramatic emotive light, and clearest translucent water, back dropped by huge mountains and jungle.
“My favourite time of the day to shoot is either first light or last light and generally high speed and with a long fast lens”.
“My goal is to continually push action media with innovative angles and interesting use of light, foreground and background. Currently residing in Mollymook on the NSW south coast with his wife and 4-year-old son. When he is not working Tyge often travels with his family, go surfing and play soccer. The best piece of advice I’ve ever heard or have learnt, always go the distance for the shot, and never compromise on your version of perfection”.
Having the 16 points of counter balance on the arrowx 7 made the shot that much easier to get and that much smoother..
